That strikes me as the same type argument that the Democrats used in 2004: "We're not George Bush". The recent cloture vote on gave me at least seven reasons to not support generic Republicans and ten possible reasons to like the Democrats. Of course, one might argue that some of the Democrat votes were for other reasons, but I think Boxer knows that her constituents will really be upset if amnesty carries. Maybe "Sheets" Byrd is just a bigot. That still leaves eight good Democrats.

I have a tendency to vote "across the board" for Republicans. Since I live in New Jersey, it hardly makes a difference except at the local level. I suppose however, if I was represented by a bunch of RINOs, I'd be looking for alternatives. Most of the time, we can only choose between the lesser of two evils. Genuinely good candidates are hard to find.

I usually do also, but at the local level it works fine. My two senators (Shelby - former Democrat, and Sessions) are generally right on the money (in my opinion) on the issues. My Representative (Everett) also has a good conservative voting record.
And of course, Bush was a better choice than Kerry. However, now I wonder about the 2008 election.
