The One True Church

I figure we'll get a lot of mileage out of this one. Consider this: Since the term Christian originated in Antioch, and since they have not changed the worship service in centuries, maybe the Greek Orthodox Church fits the title.

Okay, that should set up the debate. See you later.

LOL...

No, because the 'correct' church theoretically would be the one that comes closest in action and activity to that of the church and antioch, framed in the organizational structure provided by the apostle paul in the Epistles.

The G.O. is far from this.

Hey Dell,
Should I add a Welcome to La Shawn Barber Readers banner?

The only true "church" is comprised of the true believers.

Some (any) human-run organization has nothing to do with it...

Absolutely correct, camo. Any institution is made up of people and there's the problem. David DuPlessis once responded to a Roman Catholic priest who asked him "You think we are wrong, don't you?" with the following:

"The early believers were either Jewish or Gentiles who had a life-changing experience with Jesus. They reasoned that they did not know about Jesus, but their children would. So they instructed their children about Jesus and the reasoned 'I was a Gentile (or Jew)' and I had to be born again, but my children will know nothing but Jesus.' In that regard, they tried to raise grandchildren for God. The problem is, God has no children. We must each be born again to become a child of God."
"So the Roman (or Greek) church began to raise up grandchildren for God. Then someone had an encounter with the living Christ and the reasoning then went 'I was a Gentile (or Jew, or Roman Catholic, or Greek Orthodox), but my children will know only Jesus and will be raised (say) Lutheran.' And then you had grandchildren in the Lutheran or any other denomination Then after the Azusa street revival. people would say that their children would kow only the 'fullness of the Spirit' and now their are grandchildren in the Pentecostal churches."
I'll update the post with links later.

Must learn to use that "Preview" button. Above should read "God has no grandchildren."

Well...you could always delete and re-post, it being your blog an' all; I'm just sayin'.

FYI, I like telling people I'm "merely" Christian (C.S.Lewis reference) or a Messianic Jew...

I could, but that would destroy the chronology of the posts. Besides, I enjoy humor at my own expense.
